SPECIFIC REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
Indian State Regulatory Requirements

These regulations pertain to Non- Document and Valuable shipments only
State Regulatory Requirements
State Regulations
Gujarat
  1. All shipments on transiting through the state require an 'N' Form
  2. In the absence of the above OCTROI will be levied
  3. Octroi will be levied for all shipments destined for the state
Kerala
  1. Form 27B required for all shipments
  2. These have to be produced at Wayalar Check Post and released on inspection
Maharastra
  1. All shipments transiting through the state require an 'N' Form
  2. In the absence of the above OCTROI will be levied
  3. Octroi will be levied for all shipments destined for the state
Punjab
  1. 'SC/ST' Forms must accompany all High Value shipment
Rajasthan
  1. Shipments must be accompanied by a complete 'Declaration' or 'Invoice'. This enables fast clearance at the Sales Tax and Octroi posts
  2. Shipments should be accompanied with a 'Form 18'
Uttar Pradesh
  1. All shipments whose value exceeds Rs 1000, should be accompanied by a 'Form 31'
West Bengal
  1. For shipments whose value exceeds Rs 5000, a 'Sales Tax Permit' is required

  1. Taxable Items are not accepted as they cause delay in clearance
Bangalore
  1. Shipments containing applications for government organizations are not accepted
Kolkota
  1. Medicinal Items have to be accompanied by a Road Permit
  2. Shipments are cleared only after obtaining Sales Tax Permit
Chandigarh
  1. Shipments transiting through Chandigarh for Himachal Pradesh require Sales Tax form
Chinchwad
  1. All shipments should be accompanied by 6 copies of invoice
  2. Shipments should be accompanied by original purchase bill
Jalgaon
  1. Shipments have to be accompanied by 3 copies of original invoice
Jalandar
  1. Original invoice with true value have to accompany shipment
Kolhapur
  1. Shipments should be accompanied by 3 copies of original invoice
Mohali
  1. Octroi is payable on all shipments @ 2% of declared value on invoice
Nasik
  1. Shipments should be accompanied by 3 copies of original invoice
Pune
  1. All shipments should be accompanied by 6 copies of invoice copies
  2. Shipments should be accompanied by original purchase bill
Walayar
  1. For shipments moving from Kerala via Bangalore, Salem or Chennai should be accompanied by Form 27 B

International Regulatory Requirements
Australia
  1. All shipments including gifts should carry a valid invoice
  2. Exact Description of contents must be specified
Brazil
  1. Value of shipments should not exceed US$ 3000
  2. Import only allowed for samples and/or personal effects. Merchandise for resale not permitted
  3. Medicines destined to individuals are tax exempted
  4. A Flat rate of import taxes is assessed @ 89% of declared value
Japan
  1. Liquids other than alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
  2. Fumigation certificate is required for all plants and seeds
  3. Shipments containing alcoholic beverages, coffee samples food stuffs or products containing sodium or calcium cyclamate should not exceed 10 kgs
  4. Import License required for coal, firewood, plant, seeds and soil samples
  5. Import License required for prescribed or non prescribed drugs, medical, dental supplies or similar
  6. Shipments containing film, negatives or other media should be accompanied by a declaration. Toys accepted except Toy Guns
  7. Import License required for silk. Import limit is as per government quota
  8. Tobacco acceptable only for individual use. Banned for commercial use
  9. All items violating Japanese trademark rights are banned
Kuwait
  1. Maps and Advertising material should be sent as non documents
  2. A specific format necessary for all invoices
  3. Shipments with value above USD$ 1500 require legislation including a Certificate of origin
Mauritius
  1. All shipments should be accompanied by an original invoice irrespective of value
Myanmar
  1. Prescribed and Non prescribed drugs are prohibited
Nepal
  1. All medicinal shipments have to be cleared directly by the consignee
Oman
  1. Audio/ Video Cassettes are prohibited
  2. Medicines are prohibited
Philippines
  1. Un-manufactured tobacco shipments have to be accompanied by a ‘Phytosantitary Certificate’
Qatar
  1. No shipments below US$ 1370 will be charged Legislation fees
Saudi Arabia
  1. Computer software/diskettes, cartridges are restricted
  2. Passports are banned
  3. Prescription and Non-prescription drugs have to accompanied by an invoice that is approved by the Ministry of health
  4. Food Stuffs, Grain samples, Seeds, Plant products, Plants, Chemicals, Soaps, Detergents and Blood are only acceptable as DOOR to AIRPORT
Singapore
  1. Electronic Items are banned
Slovakia
  1. Consignee should provide Slovak Standard Organisation Certificate for all commodities within two weeksAll shipments should be accompanied by an original invoice
South Korea
  1. All propaganda goods from North Korea are banned
  2. Antiques, cashier cheques, gambling devices, costume jewellery, money orders, perishables, personal mail, plants, playing cards and soil samples are prohibited
  3. Animal skins, cotton seeds and other seeds are subject to quarantine test
  4. Alcoholic beverages can be sent provided the maximum quantity does not exceed 10 well packed bottles
U.S.A
  1. Clothing samples should be mutilated and mentioned to be so on the airway bill. If incomplete US customs will charge US$ 130 for the same
  2. Silk and leather samples need not be mutilated
  3. Fumigation and health certificate required for plants, seeds and products
  4. Medicines and oil samples are not permitted
U.A.E
  1. Restrictions on medicines, Food Stuffs and perishable items
  2. There is no service to Dibba, Fujaira and Al Mafraq Hospital - Abu Dhabi
Vietnam
  1. Tobacco samples are prohibited
Yugoslavia
  1. Customs warehouse handling, Customs tax and special tax is charged to consignees for all shipments
  2. Customs charge of US $ 50 for all samples and US$ 100 for all gifts
  3. Samples are not acceptable if consigned to private individuals
